Colonial Revival style residence designed for Howard S. McKay c.1937 by Russell Everett Collins AIA (1893-1974). The architect is best known for the design of the historic Ralphs Grocery Store in Westwood Village, declared a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument in 1988 and photographed by Ansel Adams in 1940. Architect J.A. Murray designed the house for Alvin M.Dunn, president of the Dunn-Edwards Paint Company, a family-owned business started in 1925. Film and television producer, director and actor Harold Eugene "Hal" Roach, Sr. (1892 –1992) also owned the house for a time.
